Monitors Tire Pressure
|
-
Tire manufacturers
know that a primary cause of premature tire failure and poor tread
life is under-inflation. Studies show that low tire pressure can also
greatly increase a vehicles rolling resistance resulting in
poor fuel economy.
-
Tire
Sentry ® was originally developed for the trucking
industry to monitor tire pressure from the instrument panel and has
received several U.S. industry awards. Recreational Vehicle and Bus
models have also become very popular in the U.S. and Canada.
-
The Tire
Sentry ® is a wireless tire pressure monitoring
system that monitors for low tire pressure by installing a set of
electronic valve caps that
contain a pressure sensor and microchip transmitter. It can increase
useful tire life and help to improve fuel economy by preventing under-inflation
-
Fleet Specialties Div. has announced
this new generation of Tire Sentry
® systems will include new models for cars, trucks,
recreational vehicles and trailers, and will include several new features. The
tire sensors continuously monitor the air pressure of each tire, and
signal the driver when tire pressure drops below the normal operating
pressure. A dash mounted instrument display identifies which tire
is losing air pressure usually long before the tire is damaged, or
becomes unsafe to drive on. Because of the system's unique wireless
operation there are no wires or hoses to the wheels, and no connection
is necessary to a towed vehicle.
-
The use of the new generation
tires will require a tire pressure
warning system to advise the driver of a developing tire problem.
